During the official visit to Cherkasy region, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met students and teaching board of Kaniv and Zolotonosha districts. They emphasized that as of April 2011, the Ministry of Education failed to provide textbooks for the students of the 10th grade. Thus, the pupils have no textbooks on informatics, English and other subjects. According to the teachers, the Ministry promised to supply textbooks and post the first chapters of them online, although there is no hope that they would be published or the necessary chapters would be posted.

"This situation is an experiment on the ten-graders, their teachers and parents", admitted M. Tomenko.

The Deputy Chairman reminded that he had appealed to the President and the Prime Minister several times. Although they pointed out to the Minister of Education that the issue should be tackled, the latter failed to supply the necessary textbooks. "Thus, either the Ministry of Education deceived the state authorities and the public or all of them - the President, the Prime Minister, and all the officials of the Ministry together with the local authorities neglected the pupils´ interests", stated M. Tomenko.
